Growing Conditions

Due to a mild dry summer there was quite a late, slow start to vintage. March temperatures were mild to high, which had a dramatic affect causing everything to ripen at once. The fruit quality was just fantastic, with below average yields and fabulous colours, flavours and acid balance in the reds. The 1994 was one of our best years on record.

Nose

The bouquet has sweet lifted notes of blackcurrants, mint, vanilla, black olive, tar and anise.

Palate

The palate is sweet, ripe and exotic and layered and soft, with overtones of cedar. This full bodied wine is very complex with great depth and length. Well structured, the wine finishes with long, fine grained, ma- ture tannins.

Appearance

Deep crimson in colour.

Aging

The wine was matured for 15 months in new French Nevers and American oak hogsheads prior to bottling.
